Tennis US Open in New York From August 26
One of the major Grand Slams tennis tournaments is the US Open held in New York. There have been some great champions to lift the trophy, but the latest star to grow in the rankings is none other than Andy Murray, who has proven to be a constant threat to the other top seeds in the game. He is the last winner of the US Open, beating Novak Djokovic in a thrilling final.
This year’s Open seems to be very exciting. Murray and Djokovic have both been meeting each other in finals as of late. One example is Wimbledon, which has been the spectacle of the year with Andy Murray winning the championship. He has proven himself in the last year by winning two major grand slams.
Being on a hard court and being played in the peak of the summer in New York should not be a problem in terms of performance for the players if it does get too hot - in the final at Wimbledon, the court surface temperature reached 45 degrees.
Roger Federer has been knocked out of Wimbledon in the early stages of the tournament this year and many have doubted his longevity in the sport from that point on. The 31 year old Swiss player still has a lot to give in his professional career though and the tennis he plays can pull off a win whenever he performs. Last year he won Wimbledon beating Murray – that’s saying something.
